Ernestine (Borden) Mundell

Ernestine Borden Mundell, 63, Bidwell, Ohio departed this life March 1, 2004 at her residence following a short illness. She was born November 5, 1940 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude Johnson Borden. She attended Bidwell-Porter Elementary School and North Gallia High School. She worked as a domestic for several years before going to work at the Scott & Dillion Tobacco Company of Gallipolis. She later retired from the Kyger Creek Power Plant after 21 years.

Ernestine was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Bidwell, where she served as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Church treasurer for several years. She was also a member of the Emancipation Celebration Committee.

She married Patrick Mundell Jr. of Bidwell, April 11, 1959. She is survived by three sons, Jeffery Dean Mundell, Fayettville, North Carolina; Steve Lee Mundell and Ernest Patrick Mundell, both of Bidwell; and Tajana Mullins, Bidwell; nine grandchildren: Standela (Jereomy) Shulz, Jessica, Michelle, Patrick, Jennifer, Ryan, Rachel, Sequoyah and Swayze. Also surviving are two sisters, Corliss (Glenn) Miller, Bidwell, and Jill (Daniel) Gilmore, Richmond, Virginia; two sister-in-laws, Clara Marjorie Borden, Bidwell and Margaret Mickey, Chillicothe; two aunts, Irene Borden Jackson, Bidwell and Phyllis Johnson McNeil, Omaha, Nebraska and a special cousin, Marvin Minnis, Omaha, Nebraska as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by sister Barbara Borden Jackson and three brothers, Arnold, Thurman and Hurley Borden.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday March 4, 2004 in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Bidwell with Rev. Gene Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Evergreen. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Wednesday 5:00-8:00 PM.
