Esther Irene (Mcclaskey) Thomas

Esther Irene Thomas, 105, Vinton, Ohio passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at her home. She was born at Glenn, Ohio (Gallia County) July 13, 1918, to the late Kerr and Rosie Quickel McClaskey. Esther married F. Haldon Thomas on March 12, 1938, in Pomeroy, Ohio, who preceded her in death on August 24, 1999. She worked in retail sales at Farmer's Hardware for ten years and was also a seamstress, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Rio Grande, Ohio for more than 50 years, serving as Sunday School Secretary and on the deacon board, and she was a 4-H Advisor for many years.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are children: Hazel Ruth Irwin, Chillicothe, Ohio, Joyce Irene (Larry) Shong and James Keith (Allyson) Thomas, both of Bidwell, Ohio; grandchildren: Ryle (Jolene) Irwin, Natalie (Bryan) Gardner, Todd (Tressa) Shong and Bradley Keith (Barbara) Thomas; thirteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Esther was preceded in death by granddaughter, Robin Irwin; grandson, Jamie A. Thomas; brothers, Darrel, Don and Delmar McClaskey and sister Ethel DeWitt.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, Rio Grande, Ohio with Pastor Vinton Rankin officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Rio Grande, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the church beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service.
