Rev. Eugene Bare, 75, Gallipolis died at home with his family around him Tuesday, September 20, 2005. He was born April 19, 1930 in Braeholm, West Virginia, son of the late John and Rhoda Elizabeth Knipp Bare. Born into the Heavenly Kingdom August 1949, he married Dora Janis Bellomy December 16, 1949 at Greenup, Kentucky and she survives him. A retired coal miner, Rev. Bare was ordained as a Free Will Baptist Minister in 1954. He and his family moved to Gallia County in September of 1964 and he preached in numerous churches throughout Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia. Up until a month before his passing, Rev. Bare was pastor of David's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Neighborhood Road, Gallipolis.
In addition to his wife, Dora, he is survived by son, Eddie Ray Bare, Ashland, Ohio; two grandchildren: Jennifer Louise (Dewaine) Cavenaugh, Canal Winchester, Ohio and Jonathan Aaron (Pearl) Bare, Akron, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Caleb Dewaine, Lindsey Marie and Jessica Louise Cavenaugh, Canal Winchester, Ohio and Rachel and Emily Rose Bare, Akron, Ohio; two brothers: Rev. Vernie (Mavis) Nelson Bare, Cleveland, Ohio and Franklin D. (Shirley) Bare, Man, West Virginia; nephews: Bertle Gene (Lou) Bailey; William (Sue) Bailey; Edward Lee (Cathy) Bare; John B. Bellomy, Gary Dean Bellomy, and Christopher (Heather) Bellomy; nieces: Janet (Victor) Berry, Anna Ruth Porter, Delma (Tim) Hamilton and Delores Bare; several great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law: Gary and Bertha Bellomy, Crown, West Virginia and a host of brothers and sisters in God's great Army and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Eugene Bare, February 19, 2005; brother and sister-in-Law, Rev. Edgar (Florence Toler) Bare; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Delma Francis (Willis) Lilly and Martha Bailey (James) Wilson; father-in-law, Rev. Lloyd Benton Bellomy, September 2, 1983 and mother-in-law, Elizabeth "Izzy" Adkins Bellomy, September 4, 2005.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with Rev. Andrew Parsons and Rev. Rudy Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Bidwell. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 6:00-9:00 PM.
