Evelyn Knox, 99, formerly of Vinton, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the home of her daughter Alice Jackson in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born in Chapmanville, West Virginia, September 13, 1917 to the late John and Laura Conley Shadd. She married Kenneth Knox April 13, 1935 in McAndrews, Kentucky and he preceded her death in 1992.
Evelyn is survived by her children: three sons, Kenneth R. (Margaret) Knox, McArthur, Ohio; Benjamin H. Knox, Indianapolis, Indiana and John L. (Lisa) Knox, McArthur, Ohio; eight daughters: Anna. M. (Gene) Wright, Obetz, Ohio; Norma L. Knox, Vinton, Ohio; Dorothy L. (Harry) Collins, Radcliff, Ohio; Laura E. Wilson, Columbus, Ohio; Bernetta H. (David) Pearce, Bidwell, Ohio; Vickie L. Darnell, Vinton, Ohio; Betty E. (Roosevelt) Brown, Whitehall, Arkansas and Alice M. (Curley) Jackson, Clarksville, Tennessee; son-in-law, Charles Stapleton; thirty-three grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a homemaker and her children and extended family were the loves of her life.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by daughters, Loretta Faye Knox and Frances L. Stapleton; brothers, Annis Mohawk Arnold Shadd, Tom Ratliff, Sam Shadd, Edwin Shadd and Lee Ratliff and sisters, Sally Miller, Marianne Shadd, Tennessee Turner, Victoria Cook, and Matilda Patrick.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Pastor Roosevelt Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
