Evelyn Smith
February 11, 1922 — February 28, 2008
Evelyn Smith, 86, Gallipolis, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Holzer Senior Care Center, Bidwell. She attended the Huntington Business College, Huntington, West Virginia and was involved with her husband Harold in the Meigs Equipment Company, Pomeroy, Ohio until the time of his death. In addition, she was an active member of the Gallipolis Christian Church and was a former member of the Pomeroy Church of Christ.
Mrs. Smith was born February 11, 1922 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Clyde and Marjorie Patterson Saunders. She married Harold Edwin Smith in June, 1943 in Gallia County and he preceded her on June 22, 1972.
She is survived by two sons, Bryce (Nancy) Smith and Mark (Jenny) Smith, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; five grandchildren: Wendy (Bobby) Ashford, Margate, Florida; Meredith Smith and Ryan (Vicki) Smith, all of Gallipolis; Nicholas (Kristel) Smith, Austin, Texas and Lindsay Smith, Fairlawn, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Ethan and Isabella Ashford, Margate, Florida; Grant, Blake and Kennedy Smith, Gallipolis; sister, Betty Sue Jeffers, Gahanna, Ohio and brother, Jim (Betty) Saunders, Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 2, 2008 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, with Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Pomeroy, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00-7:00 PM.
