Forrest E. Thompson, 81, Rio Grande, Ohio (formerly of Huntington West Virginia) passed away Saturday January 29, 2011 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born November 30, 1929 at Rio Grande, Ohio, son of the late Finley and Mabel Sims Thompson. Forrest owned and operated Thompson Bookkeeping in numerous locations throughout Gallia County and was a very accomplished fiddle player who enjoyed playing with other local musicians. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Forrest is survived by a nephew, whom he reared, Danny (Amilda) Thompson and son Skyler, all of Gallipolis; nieces, Virginia (Bradley) Harder, Ewington and Cathy Lindamood, Hillard; cousin, Janet Jones, Rio Grande; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and loving family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Forrest was the last living member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Rev. Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post #161. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
