Frank Clark Wetherholt, 85, Lakeland, Florida, (formerly of Marietta, Ohio) passed away in the home of his son, Jon, in Huntsville, Alabama, Tuesday, August 24, 2010, following a brief illness. He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, on February 20, 1925, son of the late Frank Wetherholt and Frances Clark Wetherholt.

He attended Gallia Academy High School and joined the Navy in 1943 where he served in the South Pacific as a Third Class cook. After returning to the states in 1946, he earned a B.S. Degree, College of Agriculture and Biology, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. He was employed by the State of Ohio Health Department and served in the Washington County Health Department and Marietta City Health Department. While living in Marietta, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and upon his retirement in 1985, he moved to Lakeland, Florida where he was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church. Other memberships include: life member- Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Region, Civitan Club and the Ohio Valley Grange.

Frank Clark married Betty Fulton Wetherholt in 1951 who preceded him in death in 1974. Surviving this union are three children: Karl (Libby) Wetherholt, Columbus, Ohio; Martha (Mike Binder) Wetherholt, Washington, D.C.; and Jon (Kathy) Wetherholt, Hazel Green, Alabama. He is survived by his wife Alma Pauline Adams Wetherholt, whom he married in 1975. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jane Wetherholt, David Wetherholt, Ian Wetherholt and Troy Wetherholt.

He was a loving and wonderful father who was an inspiration to his family always displaying his great sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2010, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Mound Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Saturday 12:00-1:00 PM.
