G. Gordon Fisher, 82, Gallipolis, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born November 1, 1923 at Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Delbert and Ical Steele Fisher. A U.S. Navy Veteran serving February 8, 1943 to January 15, 1946 he served the City of Gallipolis as a Police Officer from 1946-1950; as a Public Health Officer from 1948-1950; and served Gallia County as a Deputy and Chief Deputy Sheriff from 1950-1954. He was employed by the Kyger Creek Power Plant from 1954 through January, 1986.

Gordon was Scout Master, Troop 211 Boy Scouts of America, 1968-1972; served as Republican Central and Executive Committees of Gallia County, 1968-1993; volunteer EMTA for the Gallia County Emergency Squad, 1974-1985; and Gallia County Emergency Disaster Services (Civil Defense Unit), 1980-1985. He was a member of the Advisory Committee for Buckeye Hills Career Center, the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton Vocational School 1979-1993 and served the Kyger Creek Local School District Board of Education, President, 1969-1981.

Gordon was a member of the following organizations: Morning Dawn F&AM Lodge, 7, Past Master, Secretary, 1973-2005; Gallipolis Charter #79, R.A.M, Past High Priest; Moriah Council 32 R&SM, Past Master; The Rose Commandery 43 K.T., Past Commander; Aladdin Temple Shrine; Gallipolis Shrine Club; Ohio Priory 18, K.Y.C.H;. Hillbilly Clan 7, Past Raban of the Clan; 33rd Degree Mason, class of 1996, Boston; Gallipolis VFW Post 4464, Past Adjutant; The American Legion Lafayette Post 27, Financial Officer; B.P.O. Elks Lodge, 107; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, 731; Kentucky Colonel and Tennessee Squire.

He is survived by his wife, Ginette Spence Fisher whom he married July 7, 1987; son, daughter and grandchildren: Randall G. (Kimberlee) Fisher, Mainville, Ohio; Randall J. (Kristy) Fisher, Michael T. Fisher, Andy L. (Jo Ellen) Fisher, Gallipolis, Ashley S. and Paul A. Fisher; Candace L. Fisher-Bennett, Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Gina and Robbie Bennett; step-sons, step-daughters and step grandson: Betty (John) Rogers, Michigan; William and Sarah Grimes; William Spence, Texas; Ashley Spence, Cynthia (Scott) Sifford, Tennessee; Brandie and Zachary Sifford, Katherine Spence (Robert) Bender, Illinois; Bernadette Bender, Christopher, Ashley, James and son, Elijah Spence-Wofford; sister, Virginia Gardner, Addison, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Harrison Fisher, July 17, 1985; daughter, Rhonda Jean Fisher; brothers, Steele and Robert Fisher and sister, Eulah Gardner.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2006 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Hope, Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. The American Flag will be folded and presented by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 5:00-8:00 PM with Masonic Services to be conducted at 5:00 PM by Morning Dawn F&AM Lodge.
