G. David Smith

G. David Smith, 55, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. Born January 3, 1958 in Lexington, Kentucky, he was the son of Glenn A. and Barbara Gail (Burgess) Smith of Gallipolis. He was a 1976 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and attended The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He enjoyed traveling cross country on his Goldwing motorcycle and was an avid model railroader.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by a brother, Michael (Stacey) Smith, Harrisville, West Virginia and a sister, Lisa Coriell, Portsmouth, Ohio; special friends, Craig and Donna Barnes, Gallipolis as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
David was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, William Ross and Beatrice (Smith) Burgess of Oak Hill, West Virginia and Ira and Gladeus (Burnett) Smith of Pikeville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Bob Powell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Saturday 5:00-8:00 PM. Special friend Craig Barnes will serve as a pallbearer along with David's cousins.
