Garnet Wauneta Evans, 92, Columbus, Ohio passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus. Born January 29, 1924 in Gallia County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon A. and Lillian (Leaper) Wise. She was a 1941 graduate of Rio Grande High School. She married Glendon O. "Cap" Evans on January 12, 1942 in Louisa, Kentucky. He preceded her in death August 12, 2015. She was a resident of Rio Grande, Ohio before moving to Whitehall, Ohio where she lived for over 45 years. She was an active member of Eastview Methodist Church in Whitehall, Ohio.

Wauneta leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Carolyn (Frank) Petrie, Grove City, Ohio; Dawn Williams, Westerville, Ohio and Richard (Robin) Evans, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren: Brandy (Gary) Mount, Grove City; Gus Petrie, Sweden; Bradley (Mandy) Evans, Cincinnati; Eric Evans, Grove City; Ryan Williams, Columbus and Sean Williams, Dublin; four great-grandchildren: Tristan Mount, Grove City; Zeb & William Petrie, Sweden and Lillie Evans, Cincinnati.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Neal Wise.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Rio Grande, Ohio. Sharing any fond memories or stories of Wauneta are welcome at the service.
