Gaylord Perry, 85, Vinton, Ohio, passed away in Arbors of Gallipolis Saturday, May 28, 2005. He was born March 26, 1920 in Wayne County, West Virginia, son of the late George and Georgia Nelson Perry. A World War II Navy Veteran, he retired from the Buckeye Steel Company, Columbus, Ohio, August 13, 1969. He was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church.
He married Opal Crabtree February 24, 1940 in Louisa, Kentucky and she survives with a son and two daughters: Ronald Darrel (Lillian) Perry, Columbia, Tennessee; Sue (Roger) Crum, Lima, Ohio and Shirley (Ronnie) Marcum, Vinton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters: George (Bobbie) Perry, Columbus, Ohio; Gary (Patty) Perry, Groveport, Ohio; Gordon (Wanda) Perry, Greenup, Kentucky; Gwin Paul (Christine) Perry, Cutler, Ohio; Garnet Spry, Lake Helen, Florida and Glenna (John Paul) Napier, Grayson, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by a son, Nelon Eugene Perry, 1967 and by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Vinton Baptist Church, with Rev. Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, West Virginia. Friends may call at the Vinton Baptist Church Monday, 5:00-8:00 PM.
