Genevieve F. (Jarvis) Brown

Genevieve F. (Jarvis) Brown, 82, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Monday, January 3, 2005 at Mount Carmel East, Columbus, Ohio. Born March 18, 1922 on the family farm in Rodney Community, she was the daughter of Calvin and Elberta Jane Spencer Jarvis. After graduation in 1940 from Rio Grande High School, she was employed at Morris Dime Store, later known as G.C. Murphy, as a sales clerk from 1943-1953. Later, she was employed part-time at Faith Book Shop, working for 7 years. A devoted mother and housewife, Genevieve also worked at French City Florist during the time that her sons owned the business. She was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She married Wayne Baker Brown March 30, 1952 at Grace Methodist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio. He preceded her in death July 25, 2004.

She is survived by three children: Michael Brown, Gallipolis, Ohio; Elaine Brown, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania and Steven (Debbie) Brown, Melbourne, Florida; grandson, Brett Brown, Melbourne, Florida; two Brothers and two sisters: Milfred (Martha) Jarvis, Belpre, Ohio; Permelia (Denver) Offutt, Columbus, Ohio; Howell (Marjorie) Jarvis, Gallipolis, Ohio; Mary (Clarence) Shupe, Parker, Colorado; three sisters-in-law: Lyndall Jarvis, Olive Brown and Janet (Douglas) Wetherholt, all of Gallipolis, Ohio; sixteen nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Jan Howell, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 6, 2004 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 600 McCormick Rd, Gallipolis with Rev. Philip Walker and Rev. Joseph Godwin officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis Wednesday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Buzz Call, Ray Connelley, Bernie Crawford, Leroy Dailey, Raymond DeLille, Ballard Howell, Garland Lanier, Bob Pegg. Honorary pallbearers will be Mick Agustin, Frankie Burke, Jim Comer, Dr. Ismael Jamora, Bill Pegg, William Shaw, Tommy Mathews, and Robert Thomas.
