Geraldine "Geri" (Parsons) Long

Geraldine "Geri" Parsons Long, 86, born September 24, 1934 in Logan, West Virginia and passed from this life Friday, July 23, 2021. Emmett Sr. and Geri married June 23, 1951. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy years and their children: Gwendolyn Newhart, Patricia (Ron) Dow, Emmett Jr. (Brenda) Long, Rebecca (Ricie) Dalton, and Phyllis Smathers (Jerry Mauler); brother, Bobby Gene (Wanda Jean) Parsons; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and a host of loving friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Robert Long; two grandsons, Eric Allen Curry and Brian Keith Long; father, Freeland Parsons; her mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Augustine Edebuttel; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Orville Ryan; father-in-law, Chauncy Long; mother-in-law, Nellie Long and son-in-law, Robert Newhart.

Geri loved dedicating her time with the following community organizations: Pythian Sisters, Cub Scouts, Grange, Wilkesville Garden Club, Vinton County Wild Turkey Festival Committee, and the Vinton County Board of Elections. She was also an active and devoted member of the World Outreach Ministries of Wellston, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the United Methodist Church at Wilkesville, Ohio with Pastor Rob Ervin and Carmen Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Geri's name may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Holzer Hospice 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631
