Glen H. "Squeak" Hapney, 73, Bidwell, Ohio died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born April 7, 1931 in Bickmore, West Virginia, son of Lydia J. Nicholson Hapney, Cleveland, Ohio and the late Glen S. Hapney. He was preceded in death by his wife Hettie D. Hapney in 1996 and brother, Mike Hapney.
Glen was a retired coal miner and a life time musician. He had played with various bands and fellow musicians throughout West Virginia, Illinois and Ohio. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW #4464, Gallipolis and the American Legion, Layfayette Post #27, Gallipolis.
He is survived by a son and a daughter, David (Patty) Hapney, Bidwell, Ohio and JoAnn Sizemore, Vinton, Ohio; three grandchildren: Melissa Hapney Frye, Bidwell, Ohio; David Hapney Jr., currently stationed at For Campbell, Kentucky and Eddie Lawson Jr., Vinton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren: Jocee, Dawson and Wyatt; three sisters: Florence (Gerry) Wetzel, Madison, Ohio; Patricia (David) Lodds, Brunswick, Ohio and Edith (Chuck) Depp, Cleveland, Ohio; five brothers: Ralph (Nadine) Hapney, Brunswick, Ohio; Bernard Hapney, Glen Daniels, West Virginia; William Hapney, Sylvester, West Virginia; Johnny (Linda) Hapney, Blooming Rose, West Virginia and Eddie (Linda) Hapney, Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 28 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with Pastor Marvin Sallee officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM in the Pine View Cemetery, Orgas, West Virginia. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 6:00-9:00 PM. Pallbearers are Deland Workman, Sam Holstein, David Hapney Jr., Eddie Lawson Jr., Paul Holstein and Mark Oliver.
