Gregory B. "Oral" Roberts

Gregory B. "Oral" Roberts 59, Ewington, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born October 8, 1955 in Gallia County, son of the late Dwitt L. and Mildred McCarley Roberts. He married Cyndra Wiseman November 15, 1974 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Greg graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1973 and from the University of Rio Grande in 1992. Greg was a United Mine Worker and owned and operated Vinton Tire and Vinton General Store. Greg's hobbies were raising and showing pigs, attending his three beautiful daughter's track meets and watching his grandkids play ball. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He was a 4-H Advisor for several years and enjoyed helping the youth of Gallia County with their 4-H projects.

Greg was a family man that enjoyed sitting around a fire with his wife, girls, and grandkids. He was extra proud of his three girls. Jessica, who ran track and was a two-time All-American in Cross Country, there you would find Greg most days following behind her in his truck as she ran. Ashly, who was a thrower and still holds several records, both at her high school and college, is a five-time All-American and in the University of Rio Grande Hall of Fame. The night before meets, Greg would take Ashly to wherever the meet was so she could throw at that school's track. Kaitlyn is his livestock shower; he constantly bragged about her winning the Scarlet and Gray Sheep Show and winning The Ohio State Fair with hogs they raised and showed together. Kaitlyn is currently a thrower for the University of Rio Grande and he would do anything to help her.

Greg is survived by his wife, Cyndra Wiseman Roberts, Ewington, Ohio and daughters: Jessica (Brian) Crouse, Ewington, Ohio; Ashly (James) Dawson, Vinton, Ohio and Kaitlyn Roberts, Ewington; sisters, Lynn Roberts, Pickerington, Ohio and Ann (Louie) Bush, Gallipolis, Ohio; grandsons: Tristen and Layne Crouse, Joseph Dawson and Patrick Houston; one granddaughter, Brianna Houston and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Wiseman and mother-in-law, Evelyn Gooch.

Greg donated life by being a tissue and organ donor.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Pastor Carl Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the Franklin Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home 4:00-8:00 PM.
