Harlan W. Northup

Harlan W. Northup, 84, Gallipolis, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Arbors of Gallipolis. He was born October 3, 1926 in Gallipolis to the late James Herman and Marie Frances Watts Northup. He married Ella Mae Love Northup of Gallipolis February 29, 1952 in Greenup, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Ohio University who worked as a research chemist for the Batelle Institute of Columbus from 1950 to 1963. He then owned and operated the Sharon Square Dry Cleaning of Columbus until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Humboldt F & AM Lodge #476 of Columbus, Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, and was a loving father and grandfather as well as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife, Harlan is survived by a son, Robert (Theresa) Northup, Gallipolis; grandchildren, Katherine Marie Northup, San Diego, California; Robert A. Northup, Pomeroy, Ohio; James H. Northup, Zachary P. Northup, and Jessica R. Northup, all of Gallipolis; nephew, Mike (Katrina) Northup and children Jennifer and Jason; niece, Rose Marie Davis, Columbus, Ohio and her son, Wesley; and sister-in-law, Pat Northup, Gallipolis.
Harlan was preceded in death by a son, Gregory A. Northup and a brother, James A. Northup.
A Memorial service will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday November 6, 2010 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Msgr. William Myers, officiating. Masonic services will be conducted at 12:45 PM by the F&AM Morning Dawn Lodge #7 of Gallipolis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 AM to the time of service.
