Harold James "Jimmy" Barnes

Harold James "Jimmy" Barnes, 76, Bidwell, Ohio peacefully passed away at his residence Sunday, July 7, 2019 after a short illness surrounded by his loved ones. Born June 12, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Acy and Lonie (Tate) Barnes. The third of six children, he was a self-employed mason and carpenter

He married his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Ruth Browning August 4, 1961 in Clinton, Iowa and she survives with two sons: Jimmy D. Barnes, Cincinnati, Ohio and Donald E. Barnes, Bidwell, Ohio; six grandchildren: Brandie, Ashley, Kelsie, Donnie, Zack and Chevy and great-grandchildren: Elijah, Gauge, Kady, Ashton, Donnie Jr., Luke, Jasper and Zoe. Also surviving are a brother and three sisters: Donald (Kathy) Barnes, Linda (Donald) Crum, Betty James and Barbara Cameron, all of Walnut, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Nichols.

While he was a man of few words, his physical and mental strength hid his inner softness and he was an amazing man that could do anything that he set his mind to! His heart overflowed with love for his family and friends and worked endlessly to support and provide for his loved ones. He helped many along his life's path and as a free spirit, did so with no expectation of repayment. He will be missed yet we know this is only a temporary goodbye and we will see him again - we are are counting on it!

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio with Pastor Theron Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the Campaign Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 11:00 AM -12:00 PM.
