Harold V. Marcum Sr., 81, Vinton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the VA Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. He was a retired long distance truck driver with fifty years service. Most recently, he retired as a mail courier for Gallia County. He attended Vinton Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Philippines.
Harold was born November 4, 1929, at Red Jacket, West Virginia, son of the late Hollie Marcum Sr. and Lola Chapman Marcum. He married Carolyn Sue Cremeans on April 29, 1966 and she survives along with five children: Vicky Lynn Utley, Harold (Christina) Marcum Jr., Kimberly Sue Rife Robinette, Keli Jann Rife (Patrick) Lewis and Julia (Jamie); nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters: Mary Ethel Block, Sarah Ellen (Don) Isreal, Ronnie Marcum, Darrell Marcum, Hollie (Marg) Marcum Jr., and David (Sandy) Marcum, all of Vinton; Donna Beatrice Affolter, Jackson, Ohio and Billie Joe (Ruby) Marcum, Thurman, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by sister, Imogene Marcum and brothers, Ishmael and Sherman Ray Marcum.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Harvest Time Worship Center with Pastor David Marcum, Rev. Marvin Sallee, and Rev. Chester Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcum-Pendleton Family Cemetery, Vinton.
