Hattie Smith, 88, Vinton, Ohio, passed away in Holzer Medical Center, Monday, March 21, 2005. She was born May 17, 1916, in Edo, Pike County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William (Ance) Anderson Smith and Angiline May Smith. She retired from the Bomback Manufacturing Co., Chicago, Illinois in 1975, and prior to that, she had been employed by the American Name Plate Co., Chicago.

Hattie married Lawrence Smith October 29, 1931 and he preceded her in death December 13, 1988. Also preceding her in death was son, John Ersel Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Gaynell and Grover Fields; sisters: Hester Smith, Lon Smith, Sidney Smith, Don Smith, and Monroe Smith.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law: Ezell (Garland) Ward, Vinton and Avonell (Willard) Norman, Vinton; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 23, 2005 in the Deer Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Koonz-Sailor Road, near Vinton, with Brothers Mickey Marnard, Lucian Nelson and Jake Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, on Wednesday, 6:00-9:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Paul Ring, Paul Coley, Mitch Smith, Ellis Smith, Les Johnson, and J.R. Norman. Honorary bearer will be David Smith.
