Hayward W. McComas, 81, of Vinton, Ohio passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, in his home following a lengthy illness. Hayward was a retired Coal Miner and a farmer, born September 23, 1943, to the late Stollie and Beulah (Bradberry) McComas in Lawrence County, Ohio.
A member of White Oak Baptist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio and the United Mine Workers of America, he married his loving wife of sixty-one years, Martha Hersman McComas, October 20, 1963, in Middleport, Ohio, who survives.
To this union were born a son, Jeff (Rose) McComas and daughter, Angie McComas, both of Vinton, five grandchildren: Cindy (William) Poe, Cody (Tracy) McComas and Chris (Brianna) McComas, all of Jackson, Ohio; Autumn (Brady) Newsome, Vinton and Gregory (Alia) Keller Jr., Pleasantville, Ohio; ten great-grandchildren: Paige (Blake Smith) Wright, Christian Dovenbarger, Blake Royster, Arizona, Mason and Tyler McComas, Owen and Eli Keller, Amara and Tristan McFarland.
Also missing Hayward are brothers-in-law Paul Hersman, Vinton and Donnie Hersman, Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Gary McComas and sisters, Betty Marcum and Paula Stover.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2025, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Pastors Carl Ward and Jerrod Roberts co-officiates. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.
