Hobart Leslie Call, 90, Rio Grande, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 14, 2006 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. A WW II. U.S. Army Veteran, he was born on May 3, 1916 in Delaware, Ohio, son of the late John and Carrie Whealdon Call. He retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center following twenty years service. Prior to that time he was employed by the Ohio Department of Highways, drove school bus in Raccoon Twp. and was a farmer.
Hobart married Genevieve H. Buck October 22, 1945 in Greenup, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death September 16, 2003.
He is survived by a son and a daughter, Eugene (Valnora) Call, Bidwell and Janet (Richard) Kingery, Bidwell; five grandchildren: Janette Elliott, Bidwell; Daniele (Michael) Woodyard, Jackson; Brad (Stacie) Call, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia; Amanda Call, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia; five great-grandchildren: Ryan and Brittany Elliott, Bidwell; Taylor and Brandon Call, Gallipolis and Shawn Woodyard, Jackson; one sister: Gaynelle Shope, Streetsboro, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and John Call.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 17, 2006 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with the Rev. Randy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery, Thurman. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, July 16, 2006.
Pall bearers will be Brad Call, Ryan Elliott, Michael Woodyard, Jack Buck, Dickie Rhodes and Eugene Call. Honorary Bearer will be Norman Blankenship.
