Holzer Gregory, 81, Bidwell, Ohio passed away at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio Sunday, May 6, 2012. An U.S. Navy Veteran, he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from The University of Rio Grande in 1960 and his Masters of Education from the University of Flagstaff, Flagstaff, Arizona in 1972. He retired from the Gallia County Schools in 1995 where he had taught at North Gallia High School, Southwestern High School and River Valley High School. Previously he had been employed by the B & O Railroad System and had served as Springfield Township Trustee, 2003 - 2011. His memberships included the Gallipolis VFW Post 4464, Gallipolis BPOE 107, and his hobbies included working on cars, playing with his grandchildren, Ham Radio operating and reading.

Holzer was born April 6, 1931 at Radcliff, Ohio, son of the late Otho and Hannah Boring Gregory. He is survived by his wife Mildred Myers Gregory and five children: Robert L. (Gwen) Phillips Jr. Bidwell; Timothy A. (Bonnie) Phillips, Bidwell; Tamira (Bruce O.) Scarberry, Rio Grande, Ohio; Michael E. (Lori) Null, Plain City, Ohio and Jennifer (Matthew) Littlejohn, Bidwell;
Grandchildren: Sarah Brooke (Danny) Rucker, Susan Beth (Shane Davis) Phillips,
Robbie (Stephanie) Phillips III, Tim (Karen) Phillips II, Harmony Phillips, Samantha Kay (Brent) Smith, Shayne P. Scarberry, Vincent Michael Gregory Browning, Christopher Sean Scott Taylor, Hannah Ellen Marie Allison, and Bradyn Littlejohn; Great-grandchildren: Reed Phillips, Luke Rucker, Brooke Rucker, Josie Rucker, Timothy A. Phillips III, and Gabriel O. Smith.

Also surviving are brothers, Daryl Gregory, Radcliff and Greg Gregory, Columbus, Ohio and sisters, Violet (Bud) Gregory, Radcliff; Francyl (Bill) Casto, St. Albans, West Virginia and Redith McCormick, Charleston, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Salley Rayburn, Cheney, Washington and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Holzer was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Keith Taylor and brother Orlin Gregory.

Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Vinton Baptist Church, 11818 SR 160, Vinton, Ohio with Pastor Chester Hess officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday 1:00-3:00 PM. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton is honored to serve the family of Holzer Gregory.
