Irene (Ferrell) Browning
January 30, 1922 — April 13, 2008
Irene Ferrell Browning, 86, Gallipolis, Ohio (formerly of the Vinton Community) passed away Sunday April 13, 2008 at Scenic Hills Nursing Home. She was born January 30, 1922 in Boone County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Jess Homer Ferrell and Myrtle Vickers Ferrell. Irene married Woodrow Browning May 13, 1938 at Van, West Virginia and he preceded her in death September 30, 1981.
She is survived by three sons: Woody (June) Browning, The Villages, Florida; Larry (Betty) Browning, Zephyrhills, Florida and Danny (Sharon) Browning, Vinton, Ohio; four daughters: Jackie (Tom) Crawford, Sissonville, West Virginia; Linda Denney, Bidwell, Ohio; Connie (Jerry) Barnes, Gallipolis, Ohio and Kathy (Rick) Carpenter, Bidwell, Ohio; son-in-law, Charles Pierpoint, Woodlawn, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mathel Ferrell, Danville, West Virginia; three step-sisters: Pat Aubrich, Brenda Green and June Ferrell and step-brother, Frankie Ferrell.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Irene was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Pierpoint; two brothers, Denney Ferrell and Bobby Ferrell and three sisters, Vina Hoover, Charlotte Ferrell and Mary Epling.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday April 16, 2008 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 5:00-8:00 PM. Irene's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
