Irene Eggers, 87, Gallipolis went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at her residence. She was born February 14, 1919 in Rhoda, Virginia, daughter of the late George and Mary Baumgartner Mahaly. Irene was a member of Holden Freewill Baptist Church and Ladies Aid, Holden, West Virginia.
She is survived by two sons: James (Carman) Eggers, Bidwell, Ohio and Kelly Eggers, Gallipolis, Ohio; daughter, Sally (Art) Akers, Huntington, West Virginia; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Helen Garcia, Chapmanville, West Virginia; Ethel Preston, Lundale, West Virginia; Kathleen Perry, Lansing, Michigan and Mary Muscato, Chicago, Illinois and special caregiver, Rose Ellis (Irene's guardian angel).
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Eggers on August 27, 1999; brother, George Michael and four sisters: Elizabeth Sabo, Virginia Perry, Margaret Jarrell and Anna Perez.
The family wishes to thank all those who provided prayers and acts of kindness. Also, thank you to Holzer Hospice for their support and compassion during these last difficult days.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 1, 2006 with Pastor Charles Curry officiating at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis. Burial will follow at Moriah Cemetery, Oak Hill, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
