Irvin F. Adkins, 76, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at his residence Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was a former Branch Manager of the Heiner Bakery for more than seventeen years and also a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy Veteran who was a member of the VFW Post 4464, and American Legion Post 27, Gallipolis. Irvin was born April 14, 1934 in Ironton, Ohio, son of the late Howard Adkins and Lucy Hammond Adkins.
He is survived by a daughter Diane Adkins Camden, Patriot, Ohio; two grandchildren, Katie Haney, Tampa, Florida and Leslie (Brian) McGuire, Rio Grande, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Breanna and Maggie McGuire, Rio Grande, Ohio. Also surviving are brothers: John (Vicki) Adkins, Tampa, Florida and Calvin (Mary) Adkins, Houston, Texas; and his former wife of thirty three years, Pat Adkins, Patriot, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Jim Adkins; two sisters, Mary Wilson and Georgiana McClary and an infant twin brother and sister, Phillip and Phyllis.
Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis Wednesday 5:00-8:00 PM. Interment following cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
