J. L. "Lark" Napier, 82, Vinton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Scenic Hills Nursing Center, Bidwell, Ohio. Born December 15, 1922 in Wayne, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Albert and Dakota Mathis Napier. A World War II Army Veteran, he was a Wholesale-Retail Merchant and Butcher. Following his retirement in 1982 from Napier's Market, Rio Grande, he sold produce to local stores and at the Gallipolis Flea Market.

He was a member of Morning Dawn F&AM Lodge #7, Gallipolis; the Aladdin Shrine of Columbus; 32 Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; Gallipolis Shrine Club; a Shriner Circus Daddy, a member of the Hillbilly Clan #7; and a life member The Eye Foundation. He also attended inter-denominational churches.

Surviving is wife, Lola Fry Napier, Vinton, whom he married March 21, 1942 at Radnor, West Virginia; son, Lark (Becky) Napier II, Brooksville, Florida and daughter, Brittina Mae (Richard D.) Green, Bidwell, Ohio; four grandchildren: Lark Napier III, Dr. Kevin T. Napier, Amy Plymale, Richard A. Green; two step-grandchildren: Roger and Kathy Belvin; eleven great-grandchildren: Joseph D. Allen Plymale, Burgandi La Rae Plymale, Brittany La Shae Green, Brody Adam Green, Deandra Bradon Green, Leahann Lola Napier, Lark Napier IV, Travis Napier, Jordan Napier, David Napier, and Abbey Napier; one great-great-grandchild, Brianna Hope Napier; four brothers: French, Franklin, Richard, and James F. Napier, all of Wayne, West Virginia and sister, Ethel Bauman, Proctorville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by grandson, John Adam Green (Little Britches), in 1978 and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2005 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with Deacon Barry Plymale and Dr. Kevin T. Napier officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Rio Grande, Ohio. Pallbearers will be Lark Napier, Richard Green, Kevin Napier, Barry Plymale, Joseph Plymale, Lark Napier III, and Brody Adam Green. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Allen Green.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday 5:00-8:00 PM. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:45 PM on Wednesday by Morning Dawn Lodge 7.
