Jabez D. Parsons, 90, Waverly, Ohio (formerly Gallipolis) passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008 in the Piketon Nursing Center, Waverly. He was born June 26, 1917 Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, son of the late O.D. Parsons and Addie Kingsbury Parsons. He was a retired Air Pollution Control Inspector for the State of Washington and retired at Seattle in 1978. He served in the Army Air Corp in WW II and was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 27, a member of the VFW Post 4464, and the AM-Vets, Gallipolis. He served as Gallia County Veterans Service Office for several years retiring in 1993. In addition, he was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church, Gallipolis, and the Vinton F&AM Lodge 121.

Jabez and Waltraud were married in Seattle, Washington in 1969, and returned to Gallipolis in 1978. She preceded him in death 1993.

He is survived by three sons: James (Linda) Parsons, Kearney, Missouri, Steven Parsons, Seattle, Washington and Patrick (Amy) Parsons, Waverly; grandchildren: Tony, Mark, Madison, Abigail Parsons; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Parsons, Roanoke, Virginia; sister, Erma Eagle, Gallipolis, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 7, 2008 in the New Life Lutheran Church, 170 New Life Way, Gallipolis. Burial will be in the Vinton Memorial Park where Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Sunday, 4:00-6:00 PM.
