James Larry Burris

James Larry Burris, 76, Bidwell, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born in South Williamson, Kentucky on December 22, 1946, son of the late Raymond and Lucille (Humphreys) Burris. Larry married Brenda Sanders Burris on February 23, 1973 and she survives.

Larry was a member of the Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union, Vinton F&AM #131, VFW Post #4464, Gallipolis, Ohio and Vinton American Legion, Post #161.  Larry served in the U.S Marine Corp, receiving a Purple Heart for his military service during the Vietnam Conflict.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda, their sons, Larry (Amy) Burris II, Vinton, Ohio and Eric (Anna) Burris, Middleport, Ohio; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Carolyn) Burris, Vinton, Ohio; sisters, Joyce Fitch, Columbia, Indiana and Linda (Bill) Moore, Pliny, West Virginia; brothers-in-law: Dillard (Luree) Sanders, Scottown, Ohio, Donovan Sanders and Faron (Allison) Sanders, both of Gallipolis, Ohio, Ron Barnes, Crown City, Ohio and sisters-in-law: Jean Burris, Columbus, Ohio, Eloise Burris and Shirley Nolan, both of Vinton, Ohio and Carolyn (David) Lockhart, Crown City, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Burris and Charles Burris,  sister, Connie Burris, sisters-in-law, Beverly Queen and Elaine Barnes.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Pastor David Greer officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. to the time of service.  Full Military Rites will be presented by the Vinton American Legion Post Number 161. In accordance with Larry's wishes cremation will follow.
