James Hamilton Crace Sr, 90, Vinton passed away October 14, 2009 at his residence. Jim was born December 16, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky to the late James Emmett and Mary Ellen Young Crace. He was Deputy Sheriff for the Gallia County Sheriffs Office with twenty-six years service after which he continued as a volunteer. Jim was a World War II Veteran serving in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He was also a member of the DAV of Cincinnati, Gallipolis VFW Post 4464 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gallipolis.
He is survived by his children Jack E. (Paula) Crace, Vinton, Ohio; James H. (Jane) Crace Jr., Racine, Ohio; Beatrice A. (Larry) Sayre, Carson City, Nevada and Wanda (Bob) Quire, Dayton, Ohio and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Williams Crace, November 27, 2004 and by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2009 at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, October 16, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
