James Lowell Northup

James Lowell Northup, 81, Vinton, Ohio passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born November 26, 1941 at Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Charles Lowell and Ardelia (Cantrell) Northup.

James was an "man's man" – he loved mechanical work, anything he could do with his hands and rescuing horses. He was the custodian for many years at Washington Elementary School, Gallipolis. Mostly, James loved his family, who will miss him dearly.

A loving son, husband and father, he married Matilda Ann (Hill) Northup in 1966 in Gallia County. She preceded him November 14, 2008. To this union were born their children: Patricia (Donald) Parcell, Dayton, Ohio; Sherri Northup, Gallipolis, Ohio; Jimmy (Jeannie) Northup, Oak Hill, Ohio; Tammy (William) Gilbert, Bidwell, Ohio; Tony (Tracy) Northup, Oak Hill, Ohio and Terry (Maria) Northup, Gallipolis, Ohio. Also missing him will be his grandchildren: James (Brittany) Baker, Brandi Elliott, Nicole Baker, John (Marlena) Baker, Destany (Blake) Harris, Chanze (Breanna) Gilbert, Branson Gilbert, Chandler Northup, Kody (Madison) Northup, Erica Parcell and Misty Northup along with eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Beaver and brothers, Larry, Gary, Ronnie and Richard Northup.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by sisters Loretta Beaver and Leota Beaver and brothers, Blake, Hiram and Roy Northup.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services held. Cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio, who is honored to serve the Northup Family.
