Jewel (Hamilton) Franks, 90, of Circleville went peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 26, with family by her side.
Jewel was born on February 13, 1935, in Pike County, Kentucky to Anthony and Lovel Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Sammy Lee, one infant son, Elbert Ray, her parents, sister, Rubel, and brothers, Roy, Robert, and Russell.
Jewel leaves behind two sons, Dennis (Gail) and Michael (Lori) and their children: Jason (Chris), Stacy (Levi), Lee, Zachary (Brittany), Nathan, Edna Nicole (Austin). Step-Grandchildren; Grant (Alex), Matt, Jeremy, Zachary (Madison). Great grandchildren; Ashton, Addy, Alice, Lillie, Lorelai, and Reagan. Step Great- grandchildren; Ellen (Garrett), Gracie (Davis), and Jackson. One brother, Ray (Carlene), and one sister Dallie (Hank) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jewel's faith and loving personality had the unique ability to have a profoundly positive effect on everyone she met. Neighbors, former co-workers, and friends from places she has lived, Trenton, Vinton, Grove City, and Circleville will cherish her memory.
She was a devoted member of the Old Regular Baptist faith for over 65 years and member of Little Flock in Ray, Ohio. She and her husband, Elder Sam Franks, often attended Little Pearl, Rose of Sharon, Little Angel, Little Tavie, Maggie's Home, Little Ettie, Little Ida, and South Fork.
Outside the home she was employed as a school secretary at Buckeye Hills Career Center, and the Gibraltar school district. She was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and a skilled cake decorator.
Jewel was known as Grammy, Aunt Jewel, Sister Jewel, or just Mom. Regardless of the name, she was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by all.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with the Elders of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Vinton, Ohio. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Wednesday, April 30, 6:00-8:00 PM.
