Jewell L. Hash, 87, of Bidwell, Ohio passed peacefully in her home Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to E. Lowell and Mildred (Waters) Fish April 6, 1938, at Red House, West Virginia. A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis, Ohio, she worked for the United States Postal Service as a Postmaster for many years. Jewell was married to Martin Hash February 3, 1956, and together they shared sixty-nine years of marriage.
Jewell was a unique wife, mother and grandmother. God gave her many talents to her life, including cooking meals for family as well as large crowds and her ability to bake pies, cakes and other confections. She was well known for these delicious treats. She had an ability to recite poetry that was unmatched, sharing many with her children. She loved to dance and listen to music, often including her family in these endeavors.
Her grandchildren will fondly remember the many camping trips taken with her and Martin throughout their childhood – another love she shared with those around her. She spent precious time with her Sunday school class, to whom she shared her love of Jesus and taught those children, as well as her own, to love one another as Jesus loves us.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Martin, and their children: Gwen (Rob) Phillips, Bidwell, Ohio; Martin L. (Pam) Hash, South Point, Ohio; Amy Hash, Rio Grande, Ohio and Becky (Greg) Gardner, Tarlton, Ohio; grandchildren: Sarah (Danny) Rucker, Susan (Shane Davis) Phillips, Robbie (Nicole) Phillips, Jarrod (Pinky) Hash, Abi Hash, Josh Hash, Jessie (Eddie) Christian, Jordan (Karen) Gardner, Corbin (Kailee) Gardner and Casey (Cash Hepper) Gardner.
Also missing Jewell are seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sister-in-law, Donna Fish, Kingston, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by brothers, Maxwell Fish and Howard Fish and sisters, Becky Brown and infant, Cordelia Fish.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2025, in the First Church of the Nazarene 1110 1st Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio, including a one hour visitation prior to the service at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Greg Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Bidwell, Ohio. Family and friends may visit at the church Thursday, December 11, 2025, 4:00-6:00 PM.
