Jimmie Dale "Pops" Shato, 78, of Gallipolis, Ohio died Friday, April 18, 2025, in the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky with his family by his side. Jimmie was born November 23, 1946, in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Jones) Shato.
A retired Ohio Valley Electric Corporation – Kyger Creek Plant operating engineer, he was an active member of the community. His membership included Gallipolis Fire Department, Retired; Ohio Society of Fire Service Directors; Gallipolis Shrine Club, 32nd Degree; Hillbilly Clan #7; Kentucky Colonel; Harley Club of Gallipolis; Gallipolis Masonic Lodge, Morning Dawn #7; Gallipolis Elk Lodge #107 and Civil Air Patrol.
Jimmie married Donna Reibel Shato June 6, 1971, at Pomeroy, Ohio, and she survives with their daughters: Kristin Elizabeth (Mike) Church and Molly Don (Brandon) Parchman ; grandchildren: Bracie Mae and Brayleigh Edith Church and Journee Mae Parchman as well as a host of extended family members, lodge brothers and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Bob Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery, Gallipolis. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, April 23, 4:00-7:00 PM. Masonic services will begin at 7:00 PM, performed by the Gallipolis F&AM Morning Dawn Lodge #7.
