Jimmy Wayne Alexander, 76, Vinton (formerly of Meigs County), Ohio passed away September 29, 2013 in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. The son of the late R. E. and Dolly (Stewart) Alexander, he was born March 22, 1937 and raised in Lampasas, Texas where he attended Lampasas High School and earned college credits from the University of Maryland. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for over nine years, he became a construction electrician and later, a security guard. A nature lover, he enjoyed daily walks, being outdoors, and was an avid reader and fan of westerns.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Janet L. Kirk Alexander, whom he married June 15, 1959 at Richmond, Indiana and their three children: Krista K. Alexander, Wellston, Ohio; Judy L. Alexander, Vinton, Ohio and Bradley W. (Stephanie Houchins) Alexander, Vinton, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Amanda M. Eason, Pomeroy, Ohio; Stacie L. Alexander, Vinton, Ohio; Kelli Goetter, Florida; Katharine V. (Luke Lawrence) Alexander, Patriot, Ohio; Carol A. (Joseph) Hager, Rio Grande, Ohio; Nicholas W. Alexander, Athens, Ohio and Jessica E. Alexander, Vinton, Ohio and a great-granddaughter, expected to arrive any day. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia (Harper) Alexander, Waco, Texas and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy D. (Patsy) Kirk, Nashville, Tennessee and Donald R. (Betty) Kirk, Logan County, West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, R.D. (Lela) Alexander, Ardrell Alexander and Eudell (Jack) Bierce, all whom resided in Texas as well as sister-in-law, Sharon K. (Kirk) Wells of Logan County, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with cremation to follow. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Tuesday 6:00-8:00 PM.
