John F. Eggleton, 60, Chesapeake, Ohio, born May 2, 1953, died at his residence Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
John worked hard all his life to help and support others. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 - 1976. He was employed by the Social Security Administration, Huntington, West Virginia and prior, he was employed by The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and The Boy Scouts of America, Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie and his life partner, Deborah Chevalier; one brother, Ira Eugene, Bidwell, Ohio; and three sisters: Eleanor "Judy" (John) Haffelt, Gallipolis; Sara Bailey, Little Hocking and Teresa (Greg) Eliason, Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Gary Kavanagh, Southborough, Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Marcella (Green) Eggleton; four brothers: Richard, Carl, Dudley, William "Tom" Eggleton and one sister, Vera Jane Setliff.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Tim Gainer officiating. Burial will follow in the Campaign Cemetery near Bidwell. Friends and family may call Friday 5:00-8:00 PM and Saturday 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donations may be dedicated at stjude.org
