John Jacob Jackson

John J. Jackson, 57, of Gallipolis, died September 5, 2026, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was born on January 19, 1969, in Connersville, Indiana.

son of Carol (Blum) Jackson of Gallipolis and the late Pastor John E Jackson.

John graduated from the University of Rio Grande with a bachelor's degree in music. He also attended Wright State University. John served in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1995 as an attack helicopter repairman. His passion was playing drums; he played in the bands Talis, Dreamcatcher, and Ordinary People. Before his illness, John worked for Adkins Roofing and previously for Holzer Medical Center, Willis Tire, and Brunicardi Music Store.

Survivors include his mother, Carol Jackson, Gallipolis; former wife, Melissa Jackson of Longbottom; three children, John A. Jackson of Taichung City, Taiwan: James Jackson of Battle Ground, Washington, and Sarah Jackson of Longbottom; one grandson, Kai Simpson of Longbottom; one brother, David Jackson of Gallipolis; three sisters, Amy (Kevin) Pinson of Zanesville, Annette Holliday of Gallipolis, and Bianca Jackson of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

John is also survived by his biological family, whom he reconnected with later in life: his mother, Linda Agee, of Connersville; sister, Tammy Agee of Connersville; brothers, Steve Agee and Carl (Nancy) Agee, of Lakeview, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
