John W. Kennedy, 74, Vinton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 23, 2017 at his home. He was born March 27, 1943 in Morgan Township, Gallia County to the late John and Mary Price Kennedy. John married Rebecca Crump May 14, 1968 in Parisburg, Virginia and she survives. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. However, the most important thing in John's life was his family, football, fishing and lifelong friends He was a veteran of United States Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his wife Becky, John is survived by his daughters: Tia (Stephen) Gibbs, Loveland, Ohio and Tonya (Romeo, Jr.) Isabelle, Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren: Nathan (Samantha) Gibbs, Lawton, Oklahoma; Constance (Chad) Rakestraw, Temple, Texas; Romeo "Meo' Isabelle III, Oak Hill, Ohio and Aidan Isabelle, Oak Hill, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Ryan Isabelle, Oak Hill, Ohio and one due January 2018; sisters: Carol (Tom) Kessel, Gallipolis, Ohio, Barbara Brown, Columbus, Ohio and brother-in-law, Harold Lee Scott, Circleville, Ohio.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Kennedy and sister, Patsy Scott.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Full Military Rites conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post 161. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
