Joseph Henry Hively, 68, Thurman, Ohio, left this life behind unexpectedly Monday, February 16, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. He was born March 6, 1946, son of the late Joseph Lee and Marie (Beck) Hively. He was a graduate of Southwestern High School and remained active in the Southwestern Alumni Association.

Joe served in the United States Army for two years as a military police officer. While in the service he married Jeanie (Morrison) Hively, who survives him along with one daughter, Lorri, Thurman, Ohio. He was a member of the Harris Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent and trustee for several years.

Joe retired from Federal Mogul & GKN after 36 years of service. He was an antique car enthusiast, he loved working on them and attending car shows, especially National Oldsmobile shows. He showed his cars in many different states.

He is survived by one sister, Marietta Burger, Columbus, Ohio; six brothers: Edward (Shelah) Hively of Grove City, Ohio; Maurice (Florida) Hively of London, Ohio; Charles Lee (Wanda) Hively and Walter (Margeret) Hively, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; Marlin Hively of Bidwell, Ohio; Danny (Ruth) Hively of Vinton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was a caring person and helped anyone in need. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a brother-in-law, Homer Burger; his mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Raymond (Red) Morrison and Lorri's companion and good friend, Jim McCarley.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday February 22, 2015 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 4:00-7:00 PM.
