Joseph Freeling Jones

Joseph Freeling Jones, 89, of Bidwell, Ohio, passed away in the Holzer Medical Center, Pomeroy, Ohio Saturday, February 8, 2025. Born August 12, 1935 at Hanover, West Virginia, to the late Jim H. Jones and Aretta England Jones, Joe was a self-employed construction worker and began the group Saddles, Saddles, Saddles that boasts 22,000 members worldwide.

He married Sadie "Cookie" Browning December 26. 1956, at Hampton, West Virginia and she survives with three daughters: Dianna (Darrell Boggess) Sargent, Debbie (Kenny Hagerman) Jones, and Joanne (Bill) Hughes. Also surviving are grandchildren: Dana and Tara Sargent, Nicole and Herb Clonch, Bret and Micah Hancock, Megan and James W. Sheets, Jordan and Samantha Deel; great grandchildren: Jayla Sargent, Zachary Hancock, Dejah Holland, Logan Hancock, Lucas Clonch, Alyssa Sargent Holland, Gabe Clonch, and Linea Hancock. great-great-grandchildren: Grayson, Annie and Phoenix; sisters, Adenia Duff and Augustine Wimmer; sisters-in-law, Darlene Shortridge, Martha Ruth Barnes and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bert and Sue Browning along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Joe was preceded in death by brother Edward Jones, sisters Adalade Jones, Nadine Short, Barbara Farler and Madeline Bailey, sister -in-law Irene Coe and brothers-in-law, James Barnes, James Coe, Roscoe Browning and Harold Shortridge.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will follow in Campaign Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 11:00 A.M. till time of service.
