Karen Marie (Johnston) Davison

Karen Marie Johnston Davison, 70, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at home following a lengthy illness. Karen was the daughter of the late Ralph Junior Johnston and Patricia Ann Finch Johnston, born December 2, 1954, in Chillicothe, Ohio.

A 1973 graduate of Gallia Academy High School, she started working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) June 4th of that year in the Justice Building in Washington D.C. While working with the FBI, she lived in Washington D.C., Tacoma Park, Maryland, Laurel, Maryland and Silver Springs, Maryland before moving back to Ohio to get married and start a family.

Karen also graduated from Southeastern Business College with a Degree in Computer Technology and attended Art Industrial Schools, University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande Community College, High Line Engineering-Line Design, Continuing Education through Gallia/Vinton/Jackson County Vocational Schools and Middletown Tri-State Truck Driving School, earning a Commercial Driver's License Class "A" endorsement.

She was a Notary Public since 1983 and worked as a legal secretary for Donald A. Cox, Attorney at Law and also as a computer technician for Burlile Oil Company, Gallipolis, Ohio. Karen also was employed by Holzer Clinic from 1988 to 1995, University of Rio Grande from 1988 to 1995, and Buckeye Rural Electric as an Electrical Engineer Design Technician in 1998 to her retirement in 2016.

Karen was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, The Women's Bowling Association, The Moose Chapter 594 Lodge #3031, and IBEW Local 2359 where she held the positions of Union Steward, Judge, Executive Board Member, Chairperson of Executive Board and Vice President when retired.

She is survived by two sons: Nicolas A. (Madison) Schneider and James M. (Shay) Davison; stepdaughter, April (Mark) Kastner; grandchildren: Fox R. Schneider, Mariska J. Schneider, Kalin Schneider, Evelyn Davison, Aiden Davison, Jude Davison and Lucy Davison; twin sister, Sharon Lee (Rick) Evans; brother, James (Cindy) Johnston and several nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, John T. Johnston.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2025, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Father Tom Hamm officiate. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery, Gallipolis. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Monday 11:00 AM to the Noon service time.
