Kenneth W. Higley

Kenneth W. Higley, 71, Gallipolis, Ohio (formerly of the Bidwell Community) passed away in Holzer Medical Center Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was born August 21, 1939 in Jackson County, West Virginia, son of Elsie Stalnaker Higley, Bidwell and the late Basil K. Higley.

He was a 1957 Bidwell High School Graduate, which was the final class of the school. He worked on the family farm near Bidwell and was a small business owner for many years. Later he retired from the Lance Corporation, where he was a distributor.

In addition to his mother, Elsie, he is survived by three daughters: Jeannette A. (Tim) Drummond, Vinton, Ohio; Darlene L. (Greg) Gibson, Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Cindy K. (Dean) Hess, Vinton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Joyce L. Robie and L. Kay Higley, Bidwell and one niece, several nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Also preceding in death are a brother, F. Raymond Higley; the mother of his children, Dorothy Meeks; one nephew and one great nephew.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Rev. Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
