Larry Dale Ashburn

Larry Dale Ashburn, 56, Vinton passed away at the residence of his mother, Icy Ashburn, Tuesday, December 5, 2006. He was born January 17, 1950, son of Icy Ann Johnson Ashburn, Langsville and the late James Ashburn. He was a small construction worker and a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Wilkesville American Legion Joseph Freeman Post No. 476. He had also been a member of the Blue Lightning Band and Ghost Riders Band in Meigs County.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Corbitt Ashburn, whom he married July 25, 1970 in White City, Florida. He is also survived by three sons and one daughter: Brady (Becky) Ashburn, Langsville; Larry W. (Cathy) Ashburn, Vinton; Scooter (Monica) Ashburn, Vinton and Katrina (Mike) McGhee, Langsville; and daughter-in-law, Terry Suzette Ashburn, Vinton; seventeen grandchildren: Bobby Lane, A.J., Dustin, Matt, Levi, Dale Austin, Kyle, Jesse James, Jessie Dawn, Kristen, Sammie, Tiffany, Haley, Jasmine, Megan, Bobbi Jean and Mandy; three great-grandchildren, Zachariah, Hayden and Bell; four brothers and three sisters: Lanny (Sheila) Ashburn, Port St. Lucie, Florida; Danny (Nancy) Ashburn, Ellabble, Georgia; Dean (Donna) Ashburn, Uniontown, Pennsylvania; Rick (Rita) Ashburn, Newark, Ohio; Patricia Sorrell, Live Oak, Florida; Sheila (Robbie) Lynch, Live Oak, Florida and Linda (Matt) Smith, Gallipolis, Ohio.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Dale Ashburn.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 8, 2006 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Daniel Newsome officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00-9:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2006 and prior to the service hour on Friday.
