Lee Varney

Lee Varney, 75, McDermott, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Care Center, Portsmouth. He was born January 6, 1937 in Edo, Kentucky, son of the late Roy and Omey Ward Varney. He retired from Vacuform Industries, Inc. of Columbus and also had been employed by Industrial Ceramics and Cummings Signs, both of Columbus.
Lee is survived by his wife, Joyce Baber Varney, whom he married June 29, 1968 in Richmond, Virginia; five sons: Joseph L. (Darlene) Varney, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Danny E. Varney, McDermott; Dennis E. (Wilma) Varney, Piketon, Ohio; Dr. Brian (Lisa) Varney, Lancaster, Ohio and Devon L. Varney, McDermott; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Violet) Varney, Columbus; Hazert (Loneda) Varney, Vinton; and Verlin (Joyce) Varney, Pataskala, Ohio; three sisters, Quellie Espesito, Vinton; Lurlie (Arthur) Russo, Rochester, New York; and Celia Varney, Vinton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rosco and Floyd Varney, and four sisters, Roma Hewlett, Naomi Blackburn, Cresid Hewlett and Vicie Varney.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, May 21, 2012 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Evangelist Patrick Gamp officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 4:00-8:00 PM.
