Lena "Gail" Sprague, 88, Vinton, Ohio (Porter Community) passed away in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis Monday, February 8, 2010. She graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1939. During WW II, she worked for the Department of the Navy, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia, as Secretary to the officer in charge of the Depot for seventeen years. She continued her career as secretary to the Superintendent of the Gallipolis Developmental Center for twenty two years, retiring in 1985. She loved her church and was a member of the Bidwell United Methodist Church. While at home she enjoyed bird watching and her lap friend, Rams.

Gail was born October 24, 1921 in Gallipolis, daughter of the late Mary Rebecca Chick Harrison and Clyde Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband George L. "Buster" Sprague in 1995 and by a sister, Norma Berry in 1998.

She is survived by a close nephew, Charles (Amy) Powell, Gallipolis; nephews, John (Betsy) Carter, Leonardtown, Maryland and James Carter, Racine, Ohio as well as other nephews. Also surviving are several nieces, including special niece, Karen Sprague, Bidwell, Ohio and a special cousin, Helen Russell, Dayton, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday February 11, 2010 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave in Gallipolis with Rev. Larry Cheesebrew officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
