Leo Clair Wellington, 83, Vinton, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 3, 2009 in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Born May 7, 1926 in Vinton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Meredith Clair and Elsie Wellington.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leona Sue Wellington, three infant brothers, a sister, Mary Lou Wellington; two brothers, Gene and Wendell Wellington; and a son-in-law, Stephen Skidmore.

Leo attended Eagle Grade School and Vinton High School. He was a WW II Veteran and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Vinton American Legion Post 161; the Meigs Chapter DAV 53, Cheshire; the Gallia County Veterans; and the Fellowship Chapel Church, Vinton.

He was a self-employed truck driver for several years and worked for the Zuspan Trucking Company, Mason, West Virginia; GPW in Gallipolis and other trucking firms in the area; and he was a hard working farmer for many years.

Leo is survived by his precious wife, Clara Mae Brumfield Wellington, whom he married on June 21, 1947 in Bidwell, Ohio. In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight loving children: Beatrice (Kenny) Hale, and son, Brian, Vinton; John (Vickie) Wellington and sons, Jason (Missy) and Brad (Leslie), Patriot, Ohio; Nancy Wellington, Vinton; Becky Skidmore and sons, Craig and Keith, Bidwell; Howard (Joann) Wellington and children, Timothy (Cinamon), James (Michelle) and Jennifer, Vinton; Leo (Belinda) Wellington and children: Joshua, Amanda, Andrea, Justin (Tina) Goode, Chris, and Amanda, Pomeroy, Ohio; Clair (Sharon) Wellington and children, Michelle (Donnie Mays) and Jason, Gallipolis; Chris (Robin) Wellington, Bidwell and children, Nicholas (Casee) George and Megan. Also surviving are thirteen greatly loved great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in the Fellowship Chapel Church, 68 Keystone Rd, Vinton. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post 161. Friends may call on Monday 4:00-8:00 PM, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton.
