Leona Eileen (Dickey) Walters
August 27, 1921 — June 25, 2006
Leona Eileen Walters, 84, Gallipolis, was received into God's arms Sunday, June 25, 2006. She was born August 27, 1921, in Clipper Mill, Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry and Garnett Harrison Dickey. She retired from the Gallipolis State Institute in 1957. She was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church, Vinton Chapter O.E.S. 375, Ohio Grange, D.A.R., and had served as a volunteer in the Senior Citizens Outreach Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Walters in 1979. In addition, she was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and two grandchildren: Stephen and Karla.
Surviving are three children: Brenda Sue McKinley, Richmond, Virginia, Stephen (Yvonne) Walters, Middleport, Ohio and April (Harold) Rice, Northup, Ohio; six grandchildren: Kimberly McKinley, Ravenswood, West Virginia; Kevin McKinley, Richmond, Virginia; Tadd Walters, Logan, Ohio; Amy Palmer, Louisville, Kentucky; Christopher (Tanya) Gill, Rio Grande, Ohio and Chelsea Gill, Northup, Ohio as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, with Rev. James Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Rio Grande. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
