Leslie Farley Dotson, 51, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Tuesday October 2, 2012 in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. She was born August 10, 1961 at Flemington, New Jersey, daughter of Joan (Chapman–Farley) and George Sampson, and the late Leslie H. Farley. A 1979 graduate of Delaware Valley High School, Frenchtown, New Jersey, Leslie received a B.A. in 1983, a M.A. in 1989 and ABD in 2000, all from The Ohio State University. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Rio Grande in Communications/Journalism, and the author of numerous professional publications throughout her career. She was the recipient of the Gallipolis Business and Professional Women's Club "Young Careerist" in 1993 and served on many charitable boards and committees throughout the years. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Gallipolis, and an avid reader who loved to travel.
Leslie married David Dotson, Gallipolis, September 7, 2002 at Key West, Florida and he survives with her children, Eric Farley Sheets, Claire Dotson and Katie Dotson; sister, Lynn (Glenn Panick) Farley; brothers, "Butch" (Missey) Sampson and Michael (Marion) Sampson; step-mother, Betty Lou Farley; sisters-in-law, Edy Dotson and Rebecca (Dale) Lear and brother-in-law, Daniel (Beth) Dotson; cousin and friend, Brenda Loucks; former husband and friend, Mark Sheets as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, William and Anne McGilligan Chapman and paternal grandparents, Edgar and Charlotte Jones Farley and special uncle, Edward Chapman.
A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be conducted 10:00 AM Saturday October 6, 2012 in the St. Louis Catholic Church, Gallipolis.
