Lillian (Daughtery) Thornton

Lillian Thornton, 74, Vinton, passed away at Riverside Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. She was born July 16, 1935 in Phelps, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lewis Daughtery and Nellie Taylor Daughtery. She was a devout Christian and attended the Rutland Church of God. She was a life long caretaker showing compassion and love to all she knew.
Lillian married Arlis Thornton on May 14, 1968 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2005. Also preceding her in death was her son, L. C. Smith and a brother, Ernest Daughtery.
Lillian is survived by one son, Sigle Edward (Sandy) Chafin of Canal Winchester, Ohio; one daughter, Elizabeth (Greg) Lathey of Vinton, Ohio; one step-son, Ronnie (Betty) Thornton of Ripley, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Bridget Spencer, and Hayley Lathey; three great-grandchildren, Valorie, Gary and Megan Spencer; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Thurman Daughtery of Vinton, Ohio; and a very special friend, Virginia Hanson.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Vinton Baptist Church, 11818 SR 160, Vinton with Pastor Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at Vinton Baptist Church Saturday, from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM.
