Lucy (Marcum) Maynard

Our beloved Mother and Mamaw, Lucy (Marcum) Maynard, 97, Wilkesville, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at her home. She was born October 15th, 1924, in Oppy, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late Sammy and Julia Runyon Marcum.  Lucy married Jesse Maynard on May 3rd, 1943, and he proceeded her in death on March 17th, 1973.  She attended the Old Regular Baptist Churches.  She was baptized August 19th, 1973, and belonged to Little Ruth Church in Marengo, Ohio where she attended occasionally up to the time of her death.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Edith (Don) Doles, Jaree Stapleton and Jo (Tony) Adkins, all of Wilkesville, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Cindy (Rob) Rodgers, Ann (John) Wood, David Stiffler, Jr., Jackie (Doug) Roberge, Jay (Joy) Speakman, Phillip (Deana) Adkins, Josh (Shanna) Adkins and Adam Adkins, all of Wilkesville, Ohio; fourteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.  Also, she was blessed to still have one remaining sister, Evalou (Don) Lawson, Pleasantville, Ohio.

Lucy loved to do embroidery, make quilts, cook and can, and loved to help other people. Our dear mother was blessed and was a blessing to others that knew her.

In addition to her parents, her husband and daughter, Barbara Stiffler, she was proceeded in death by sons-in-law: George Speakman, David Stiffler, Sr., and Raymond Stapleton; two brothers, John and William Marcum; six sisters: Edith Newsome, Olive Newsome, Fanny Maynard, Opal Metheney, Shirley Parsley and Ernestine Clay.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.  Burial will follow at Marcum Cemetery, Wilkesville, Ohio.  Family and friends may call on the family at the Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Thursday.
