Lyndall (Morris) Jarvis

September 1, 1920 — June 5, 2013

Lyndall Jarvis, 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Holzer Senior Center where she had resided since February 2013. She previously was a resident of Holzer Assisted Living in Gallipolis since July 2010. Lyndall was born at home September 1, 1920 in Lone Willow, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Clyde and Kate Hersman Morris. Her family moved to Ohio when she was a teenager and at Rio Grande High School in 1936, she met Maxie Jarvis, whom she married June 4, 1938.

In addition to raising their family of boys and moving frequently throughout the years to different locations where Maxie's job took them, Lyndall also worked in Gallipolis at G.C. Murphy's 5 & 10, H & R Block Income Tax and Duke's Dry Cleaners as a seamstress. She was quite the accomplished seamstress who also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making many afghans, doilies, tablecloths, baby blankets and several quilts. Lyndall enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning and raising flowers and plants. She was well known for baking delicious graham cracker pies! Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and with relatives and friends. For many years she attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis.

Lyndall is survived by three sons: Clyde, Gallipolis; Leroy and Betty, St. Louis, Missouri; Roger and Ginnie Rae, Rochester, New York and nine grandchildren: Kelley Jarvis, The Plains, Ohio; Brian Jarvis, St. Charles, Missouri; Craig (Joyce) Jarvis, Rochester, New York; Kathy (Michael) Block, West Plains, Missouri; Karla Allen, Haslet, Texas and Cheryl (Trent) Craig, Spring, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother, Daniel Morris, Bidwell, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Maxie Jarvis; step-son, Ron; sister, Ernestine and by brothers: Cecil, Norval and Donald.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of Holzer Assisted Living and Holzer Senior Care Center for their loving care of our mother!

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, First Ave, Gallipolis with Rev. Gene Harmon, visitation Pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Saturday, noon to 1:00 PM.
